Emergency Information – Wildfires

Keeping yourself, your family, and your community safe is the most important. This news release provides information on how individuals and families can prepare for an evacuation alert or evacuation order. You might also find it useful as it describes the difference between an alert and an evacuation order. It is important to follow the direction of local authorities.

Recognizing that some information is handy to have at your fingertips, the Lillooet Library has pulled the following websites together:

Community Resources:

1. If you spot smoke, flames or an unattended campfire. Call 1-800-663-5555 or *5555 on your cell phone.

2. PreparedBC (www.preparedbc.ca) can help you understand and prepare for the hazards in your area:

3. Emergency Support Services and Reception Centres (EmergencyInfoBC) https://www.emergencyinfobc.gov.bc.ca/wildfires-2021/

a. Emergency Support Services (ESS) reception centres are available for evacuated residents who are without access to other sources of support.

b. Evacuees are encouraged to register online, if they have not already done so, at: https://ess.gov.bc.ca/ (The ERA tool is a digital platform to support the delivery of Emergency Support Services (ESS) to British Columbians forced from their homes by fire, flood, or other emergencies)
